| Now certain liquid goods are allowed in a passenger's hand luggage, however are subject to strict limits and thorough security checks. |

| The authorised liquids - details to follow - are only allowed to be carried in a quantity no greater than 100ml, and carried in separate containers. |

| Such containers have to be placed in a single, re-sealable and clear plastic bag, that can't exceed 1 litre in capacity (approximately 20cms x 20cms), with only one such bag allowed per passenger. |

| All liquids not fitting into such a bag have to be carried in the passenger's main luggage. |

| Remember that 'Liquids' includes: |

- they have been purchased airside at another EU airport, or on board an aircraft operated by an EU carrier. You will need to show proof of purchase to demonstrate this
- Liquid items in excess of 100ml purchased from other airports or on board other airlines may only be carried as hold baggage on the connecting flight

Please be prepared to queue at the check-in desks, the security control points and also into the departure lounge and boarding gates. Queues are caused by all passengers and their luggage being checked.

Keep your luggage with you at all times and alert the Airport staff immediately should you see anything suspicious or notice any unattended bags or packages. |

Leeds Airport Security Checks ... |
|

|
|
To get into the Departure Lounge all travellers have to pass through a number of security control checks. Here boarding cards and passports will be fully inspected.
Then, both the passenger and their hand luggage are also inspected.
All passengers, when approaching the security point are asked to remove coats, shoes and jackets in preparation. And also to remove PCs and large electricals from their hand luggage as these require separate screening. At the x-ray machine please place all keys, coins, mobiles etc. in the trays provided that also need to pass through the scanning machine.
Passengers, as their luggage is being x-rayed, then pass through an x-ray machine. Any passengers fitted with a pacemaker should request a hand search. Wheelchair users will also be given a hand search.
The x-ray machine is safe for pregnant women however they are able to ask for a hand search should they have any concerns.
Randomly passengers can be selected for hand searches. |
